Ford is redefining its future by promising two all-new lineups, Ford Blue and Ford Model e. While Ford Blue builds on the expertise of internal combustion engines, Ford Model e will feature new all-electric models. Besides creating models that are attractive to a wide variety of drivers, Ford Model e also aims to develop technology that performs better on the Troy roads. From the battery itself to the charging options, this lineup will hone in on making vehicles that drivers would love to get behind the wheel of! Ford is truly invested in the electric market, as they expect to spend $5 billion on EVs in 2022, which includes capital expenditures, expense, and direct investments. This is a two-fold increase over 2021! One goal of the Ford EV investments is to essentially produce more than 2 million electric vehicles per year by 2026, accounting for one-third of Ford’s global volume. And by 2030, the production will be half of the overall volume, which means EVs should have the same or even more market shares in vehicle segments where Ford already leads. Along with these production goals, Ford also wants to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 and to use 100% local, renewable electricity in all of its manufacturing operations by 2035.
So where are the models from the Ford Model e line being produced? These models and their next-level technologies are being developed in BlueOval City, a complex in west Tennessee, as well as a BlueOval SK Battery Park in central Kentucky, where there are twin battery plants that will power the electric Ford and Lincoln lineups. In addition to these Ford EV factories part of this efficient complex, Ford is also investing $525 million in total in the United States to train skilled technicians to service electric zero-emission vehicles that will soon dominate the streets of Albany and Schenectady.
