What is the Ford & USPS Partnership?
Whether as first responders in Troy or construction workers in Schenectady, Ford trucks and vans have played a significant part in our day-to-day lives. Now, the US Post Office wants to electrify its fleet by teaming up with top automotive brand Ford to help serve communities for a more sustainable future. How do they plan on doing this? As mentioned above, USPS has plans to add 9,250 E-Transit fans, all built at the Kansas City Assembly Plant!
Announced in a February 28th press release, we may see orders for more than 14,000 charging stations to get deployed at USPS facilities. Over the next few years, they have plans to add 66,230 battery-electric delivery vehicles, eliminating more than a few million tons of carbon emissions along the way.
Jim Farley (Ford President and CEO) released a statement about the exciting news:
“Ford is proud to support the United States Postal Service in delivering a more sustainable future for America by electrifying their fleet with over 9,200 E-Transit vans through the end of 2024. Built by our dedicated UAW workforce at the Kansas City Assembly Plant, vehicles will be operated by the largest electric fleet in the country, serving communities on every street corner. Together with USPS, we are committing to cleaner air and a better planet.”
